WhatPulse 2.4.1b3
Hi,

I’m happy to announce that the transition to Qt5 has finished and that the next beta (2.4.1b3) can be tested!

The framework have changed dramatically which had an effect on the size of the client application. On average it’s about 45% smaller in size then the previous clients.

One of the things that had to be figured out was the Facebook login, as that needed to change with the framework update. I was afraid that it would get more complicated then necessary, but fortunately the opposite is true. I was able to make the experience of the Facebook login even better then it was. The client can natively login if your Facebook account has already authorised WhatPulse, if you have not authorised WhatPulse yet, you will be redirected to whatpulse.org to get that done and the client will simply wait until you’ve done so. Once authorisation is there, the login procedure can proceed.

Downloads:
- Windows: http://files.whatpulse.org/beta/whatpuls....4.1b3.exe
- OS X: http://files.whatpulse.org/beta/whatpuls....4.1b3.dmg
- (sorry, no Linux for this one)

RE: WhatPulse 2.4.1b3
Everything had been working fine when I set it up, I tried pulsing after like 2 minutes to see if it would crash and it didn't, but after an hour when it was going to auto-pulse it crashed, and it kept spamming me with these error messages, because the watchdog process kept trying to reboot it:

EDIT: The auto-pulse seems to have went through though, but I couldn't get the 2.4.1b3 to reboot so I went back to an older version.

Hm, guess when I started to focus on the Qt5 switch, I lost track of that auto pulse thing, considering I don't see that one. Disable auto pulse for now - I need to separate the normal pulse and token refresh into separate threads. Your computer most likely kills the pulse thread after pulsing so the token refresh crashes.

Hoi Smile
Can we update through the updater? I'm currently running WP 2.4.

No, since it's a beta version

I've just tried disabling it and ran it for ~20 minutes, then pulsed manually. It crashed just like before from the autopulse and would keep showing me errors because of the watchdog rebooting it all the time.

BTW, I think the watchdog process is kinda buggy; at the end when I finished reinstalling 2.4.1b3, I think the watchdog rebooted the whatpulse installation process, it re-appeared like 3 times, every time it reappeared I just installed it again just in case.

That's not really possible, unless you named the installer 'whatpulse.exe' and put it in the same directory as the watchdog.

What is the purpose of the watchdog?

I assume that it monitors the WhatPulse program, and restarts it in the event that the program crashes.

Correct assumption! Now with most people it won't ever need to kick in, but there are a few configurations out there where weird stuff keeps happening, that's what the watchdog is for.
